Welcome

The Suffolk Book League is a local literary group with a difference! Founded in 1982, we promote the pleasures of reading by bringing popular and distinguished writers to speak in Ipswich and the surrounding area as well as supporting a wide range of literary-related community projects.
To us, reading matters.30 years

The 2012 programme is available from our Meetings page and we are fortunate to have been able to welcome a wide range of well-known speakers to the county over the last 30 years. Go to our About Us page for a detailed list of past speakers and further information about the activities of the Suffolk Book League.

You can join the Suffolk Book League at any of our meetings, via this website or by email/post. Although you do not need to be a member in order to attend our events, annual membership ensures that you receive the quarterly journal Book Talk and reduced price entry to the monthly talks as well as the ability to purchase multiple advance tickets.

The Suffolk Book League is also proud to sponsor Literary Suffolk, a booklet showcasing Suffolk's literary heritage. This publication is available in Tourist Information Centres throughout Suffolk.

Our Links page promotes other local literary events, connections and organisations.

We are grateful to the following Suffolk organisations for their support: The Ipswich Institute, St Joseph's College, Gotelee Solicitors and Waterstones in Ipswich.

You can also like our Facebook page (Suffolk Book League) and follow us on Twitter (@SuffolkBookTalk) for all the latest SBL, local and national literary news.
